KTM DUKE 200 REVIEW

KTM launched the Duke 200 in India which is priced @ 1,35,200 (EX DELHI). It is available is Black, White and Orange shades.
1 EXTERIOR DESIGN & INSTRUMENTAL CONSOLE
The design of this bike is new which is good. The bike has very slim headlight with no visor. The front mudguard is also short and simple. The bike has very small body panels. The tank is big and uplifted and sports Duke on it. The rear mudguard is sporty but little long along with its wide rear tyre. Small tail light is very simple and its black coloured grab rails and clear lens indicators also add to the styling.
The instrument console of Duke is like a cockpit which features a digital speedometer, odometer, trip meter and fuel gauge with some led indicators. The bike uses orange coloured back light in its instrument console. The instrument console is not that easily readable apart from its speedometer, you will have to search for other things in it as it compromises on space.
2 ENGINE & GEAR BOX
Engine is a 200cc single cylinder 4 stroke variant. It delivers the power of 25 bhp @ 10000 rpm and torque of 19.2 Nm @ 8000 rpm. This is a 4 valve engine and has 6 speed manual gearbox with the gear shift pattern of one down and five up.
3 ACCLERATION & POWER N PERFORMANCE
The bikes engine is very powerful one providing superb pick up and has a very good top speed. The overall performance is great and engine is well refined. The acceleration and overall power is great.

0-60 : 3.3 sec.
0-100 : 9 sec.
TOP SPEED : 138 km/h.
4 FUEL CAPACITY & MILEAGE
It has a pretty big 10.5ltr fuel tank out of which 2.5 ltr are for reserve. The mileage of this bike is not bad but could have been a little better which is given below.
CITY : 30-34 Km/l.
HIGHWAY : 40-44 Km/l.
5 STORAGE & SAFETY FEATURES
There is no storage place in this bike and as far as safety it has a powerful headlight.
6 SUSPENSION & BRAKING
There is a high quality upside down forks and a mono shock rear shock absorbers. The braking system here sports a big 280mm front disk and a 230mm rear disk brakes. All in all it has a very good suspension n braking setup.
7 RIDING COMFORT & HANDLING QUALITY
Duke 200 is quite a comfortable bike. It offers Very good handling which makes it quite responsive enough. The suspension and breaks offered with this make it handle very efficiently and is comfortable during the ride. The wheelbase of 1367 adds to its stability and high speed cornering is good enough and with a ground clearance of 165mm ridding along worst potholes and speed breakers is easy. Over all city and highway riding is very good but stability at speeds of 120 is a little challenge due to low weight of the bike.
PROS
*Good looks and styling.
*Powerful engine with great performance and a descent mileage.
*Very good ride and handling quality.
CONS
*Bit pricy.
*Limited number of retail outlets.
CONCLUSION : Overall a very good bike which has a powerful engine and performance with descent mileage and quite comfortable too which is a good competitor having a quite good value for money.
