BAJAJ AVENGER 220 REVIEW


 
Bajaj launched the Avenger 220 in India which is priced @ 76,800 (EX DELHI). It is available is Black, Red and Blue shades.

1 EXTERIOR DESIGN & INSTRUMENTAL CONSOLE

The design is very good which is classic and attractive vehicle. The bike feels bulky and a bit overweight despite having a slightly leaner frame and this bike weighs 154kgs. A large round headlamp and rectangular rear-view mirrors are prominent characteristics classic looks. Its aluminum levers and metal handlebar weights look solid, durable and classy.

The instrumental console is a simple and old classy one found here. the Avenger 220 features a wholly analogue instrument console, including analogue tachometer, analogue trip meter, analogue speedometer and analogue fuel gauge, as well as low-battery, low-oil and low-fuel indicators. All of the displays of the instrumental console are clearly visible.

2 ENGINE & GEAR BOX

Engine is a 219.8cc single cylinder 4 stroke variant. It delivers the power of 19. bhp @ 8500 rpm and torque of 17.5 Nm @ 7000 rpm. This is a 4 valve engine and has 5 speed manual gearbox with the gear shift pattern of one down and 4 up.

3 ACCLERATION & POWER N PERFORMANCE

The bikes engine is very powerful one providing excellent pick up and has a good top speed. The overall performance is good and engine is refined which is good enough. The acceleration is good but could have been better considering the capability of the engine.

TOP SPEED : 120 km/h.

4 FUEL CAPACITY & MILEAGE

It has a pretty big 14ltr fuel tank out of which 2.5ltr are for reserve. The mileage of this bike is good which is given below.

CITY : 31-36 Km/l.
HIGHWAY : 40-45 Km/l.

5 STORAGE & SAFETY FEATURES

There is not much storage space found here. It doesn't come with notable safety features but has a powerful  headlamp for better vision which adds to its safety.

6 SUSPENSION & BRAKING

There is a telescopic front forks and a hydraulic rear shock absorbers. The braking system here sports a big 260mm front disk and a 130mm rear drum brakes.

7 RIDING COMFORT & HANDLING QUALITY

Avenger a very comfortable bike. It offers pretty good handling which makes it quite responsive enough. The suspension and breaks offered with this make it handle very efficiently and is comfortable during the ride. The wheelbase of 1475 adds to its stability and high speed cornering is good enough and with a ground clearance of 169mm ridding along worst potholes and speed breakers is easy. Over all city and highway riding is very good. Long distance rides are found enjoyable by cursing in 100-110km/h.

PROS
*A very good classic bike.
*Powerful engine with adequate performance and a bit more than descent mileage.
*Very good ride and handling quality.
*The most powerful and affordable cruiser in its class.

CONS
*Rear wheel size could have been a little bit thinner like 120/90 X 15mm for better efficiency.

CONCLUSION : Overall a very good bike which has a powerful engine and performance with a descent enough mileage and Excellent comfort which is a tough competitor the only con is that mileage could have been 3-4km/h more in city.

  1. Bajaj is my favorite brand of bike and Avenger is the best cruiser from it which looks rowdy and made for barren lands or rough terrains.Bajaj Avenger gives superb seating comfort and powerful ride.
