TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS REVIEW

 

TVS launched the Apache RTR 180 in India which is priced @ 84,200 (EX DELHI). It is available is Black and White shades.

1 EXTERIOR DESIGN & INSTRUMENTAL CONSOLE

The design is very good which is stylish, aggressive and more attacking than before which is visible through the vehicle. The headlight features a day time running LED's and new pilot lamps adds to a premium touch. The new engine cowl and tank cowl of this bike improves its aerodynamics and gives a visual bulk looks. The new stretched rear panel looks very good with its split grab rails. The graphics on this bike is excellent.

The instrumental console is very neat and very impressive one found here. It has a big white dial for its analogue tachometer with illuminating needle and on the left there is a big LCD with blue back-lit display for digital speedometer, odometer, trip-meter, clock and fuel gauge. It also has a unique feature which records top speed and 0-60 km/h timings which is a very cool feature. It also features a switch above the speedometer ABS which can be turned on or off. 

2 ENGINE & GEAR BOX

Engine is a 177.4cc single cylinder 4 stroke variant. It delivers the power of 17.03 bhp @ 8500 rpm and torque of 15.5 Nm @ 6500 rpm. This is a 2 valve engine and has 5 speed manual gearbox with the gear shift pattern of one down and 4 up.

3 ACCLERATION & POWER N PERFORMANCE

The name RTR (Racing Throttle Response) itself justifies everything here. It weighs lighter and the power generated by this engine are its factors to give this the best in class power to weight ratio. All in all the enthusiastic engine, the crisp gear ratios give it a very good performance though the engine is bit noisy at higher rpm and vibration occurs after 100 km/h. The performance is excellent in 3000rpm to 7000rpm The engine is refined then previous version but cold have been a bit better during high speeds.

0-60 : 4.1 sec.

TOP SPEED : 124 km/h.

4 FUEL CAPACITY & MILEAGE

It has a big 16ltr fuel tank out of which 2.5ltr are for reserve. The mileage of this bike is very good which is given below.

CITY : 38-40 Km/l.

HIGHWAY : 46-48 Km/l.

5 STORAGE & SAFETY FEATURES

There is not much storage space found here. It also has bright headlight for better vision and a rear saree guard and a front leg guard which adds to its safety.

6 SUSPENSION & BRAKING

There is a telescopic front forks and an advanced gas filled rear shock absorbers. The braking system here sports a big 270mm front Petal disk and a 200mm rear petal disk. It also features ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) which could come in handy at times especially in rainy seasons to give u accurate and precise braking. 

7 RIDING COMFORT & HANDLING QUALITY

TVS apache offers a low seating and a very comfortable bike. It offers very good handling which makes it light and responsive. The suspension and breaks offered with this make it handle very efficiently and is comfortable during the ride. The extended wheelbase of 1326 adds to its stability and high speed cornering is slightly improved with additional help of ABS it is very good but would have been little better with a bit wider rear tyre and with a ground clearance of 165mm ridding along worst potholes and speed breakers is easy. Over all city and highway riding is very good. Long distances of more than 350 Kms might give u a slight back pain.

CONCLUSION : Overall a very good bike which has features, a powerful engine and performance with a good mileage and ABS which is a tough competitor the only con is it is a bit pricy than its rivals.
